How we choose

Small rooms are harder than big ones. Everything has to do more than one job, nothing can be wasted, and most things designed for a home assume you have more space than you do.

This site is where I put what I find. I spend a lot of time looking — comparing versions of the same thing, reading through what people say after a year of use, working out which pieces actually suit a small room rather than just photographing well in one. The point is that you don’t have to do that part.

What I look for

Comfort. A thing you live with should feel good to use, not just look right. That matters more in a small room, where you’re closer to everything.

Quality that lasts. I’d rather list one piece that holds up than four that don’t. Small spaces punish clutter, and replacing things twice is its own kind of clutter.

A shape that suits the room. Slim, wall-mounted, stackable, lidded, or simply the right proportion. Most of what I leave out is left out because it’s too big for the room it’s meant for.

What I don’t do

I don’t test these products. I haven’t measured them or lived with them. What I do is read carefully, compare honestly, and leave out anything I wouldn’t consider myself. Before you buy, check the measurements and current availability on the retailer’s page — sizes and stock change more often than I can keep up with.

Nothing here is paid placement. No brand has paid to appear, and no one sends me products.

How I keep it current

I check the links every month. Anything discontinued or out of stock comes off the page rather than sitting there wasting your time. If you find something broken before I do, tell me.
